Safety & security
Run like a school. Because we come from schools.
Our team spent decades responsible for children inside schools — the standards, the procedures, the paperwork, all of it. When we built STEM SPARK, we kept every one of those standards. Here they are, in full.

Who's in the room
- Every adult on our team — every teacher, every assistant, every time — passes Level 2 background screening: fingerprint-based checks against state and federal records, the same standard Florida requires of school personnel.
- Our hiring rule is simple and non-negotiable: if they can't work at your school, they can't work with us.
- Every camp runs with a lead teacher and a classroom assistant. Two screened adults, always — no session ever runs with one.
Ratios and supervision
- Classes cap at 16 student innovators with 2 staff — an 8:1 effective ratio, tighter than Florida's licensing standard for this age group.
- Students are within sight of staff for the entire session, including snack and bathroom transitions.
- Head counts happen at every transition: arrival, activity changes, snack, and showcase.
Arrival and pickup
- Sign-in at the door at drop-off, sign-out at pickup, every session, no exceptions.
- We release students only to the authorized pickup names you list at registration. Anyone our team hasn't met shows photo ID.
- Need to change pickup on camp day? Call or text from the phone number on the registration and we confirm before release.
Health and allergies
- Allergy information is collected for every student at registration and checked against the snack list before every camp.
- Snacks are nut-aware, and the menu adjusts for any session with a severe allergy registered.
- EpiPens and inhalers are handed to the lead teacher at sign-in and stay within arm's reach for the full session.
- A first-aid kit is on site at every camp, and staff hold current first aid and CPR training.
The room itself
- We run camps in real classrooms and school facilities — spaces already built and maintained for children.
- Tools and materials are age-appropriate for grades 2–6; anything with a sharp edge or a hot surface is staff-operated.
- Every venue is walked before camp day: exits, bathrooms, pickup flow, and where the first-aid kit lives.
Insurance and accountability
- STEM SPARK carries full general liability insurance. A certificate of insurance is available to any parent or partner venue on request.
- You'll always know who ran your child's session — lead teacher names are on the roster, and the founder personally reviews every camp's staffing.
- Questions about any of this get a direct answer from us within one business day, before or after you register.
Have a question we didn't answer?
